The shoes are supposed to be wide but in fact the toe box is as narrow as any regular shoe. My foot has just adequate space but the shoes seriously taper at the toes area and cramp your toes. Not good at all.
Additionally, the insidious and terribly designed SIDI ratchet clamp should be outlawed. Not only is it a total ***** to fumble and fight with, but the ratchet device is on the outside of each foot making it extra difficult to reach and see what you are doing. Simple velcro should have been used as it is very effective and a breeze to use. I am very disappointed in these premium shoes.
I rate SIDI shoes at the bottom of the heap by virtue of simple POOR design. The leather quality appears very good but the technical design is awful. I am returning this pair as unuseable.
Wow. First I've ever heard that. I on the other hand used to wear whatever shoes I could afford and always found my feet fell asleep from the ball of the foot forward. Finally talked the wife into not being POd about me getting Megas. Like butter.
Best feature - soft compression arch strap w/ratchet - the thing you hate. I can quickly adjust the shoe on the fly while riding. That is great because I hate tight shoes, but after about 2-5 miles my feet aren't as swollen and I have too much room in the shoe. A couple of pulls on the lever and I'm ready to crank on the next hill.
I love the Megas, and I probably will never switch. I use LeWedges for pronation issues and Speedplays for my knees. The combination has led to thousands of pain free and comfortable miles. Thanks SIDI.
