Weird. I rather like the ratchet, and find it very easy to work with.
Today I had something in my right shoe, and I was able to unclip (while moving, mind you), reach down and remove the shoe, empty out the offending object, put the shoe back on, clip back in, and fasten the ratchet, all without stopping.
But the shoe that's best for one person isn't the best shoe for everyone. Sorry you're having such a horrible time with them.
