Bikes: GT Timberline (1990?), Trek 1100 (199?), Giant OCR3 (2007)

I would love to go on a six month tour but could never afford to take six months off.
How do you do it? are you independantly wealthy or what? How much does it cost to go to Europe and ride around on a bike for six months?
