You got that right! You couldn't pay me enough to ride around in that hot, heavy clothing. That's probably why they ride so slowly, or simply sit in the shade.
The RCMP bike squad officers have breathable fabric type clothing so they have no excuse. I notice the RCMP seem to be more professional than municipal police forces. Besides my one bad encounter with them, overall, they have been very friendly - come up and talk about bikes. They really liked the disk brakes I have. One of them even took it for a spin. He was not a big guy so I let him. But again, that is the RCMP..the municipal bike units are pretty unfriendly and don't like to talk to the public much...weird because I thought that was part of the idea of getting them out of cars and amongst the public more.
