I'm convinced Campagnolo makes noisy freehubs on purpose. It's like the "signature sound" of a Harley Davidson engine, it's part of the brand. Many owners of Campagnolo-equipped bikes are actually very proud of that hear-how-much-money-I've-spent-on-my-poseur-bike racket, and I'm sure Campagnolo's sales would hurt if they quieted their hubs down.
