But anyway, Giant pretty much pioneered compact sizing to make their own lives easier and I don't see them giving it up any time soon. Even on entry level posenger bikes.

Actually...

Sloping top tube frames, became popular after young PAUL BRODIE made a mistake welding a frame at rocky mountain. There was the sloping frame. Of course there was cheese womens frames. there was a few sloping top top tube road frames before giant.
