These are easily swapped out with a Surly or other rigid fork (like I did for my commuter) but it's extra cost and work that most people don't want to do (or want to pay for). It really makes me want to start selling my own commuter bikes, made for people who really commute
The store near my home is selling an 05 Cypress R for $339 which is the same as the Cypress, but without suspension. I think I'll take it for a test ride. My only concern about the Cypress and other 'confort' hybrids is that they might not be as fast as I'd like, hence my intrest in the Sirrus and 7.2FX.
