I think that there is a general tendency to somehow pick out racism when it's only directed at minorities. I think that when someone talks about race when it is regarding a minority, they are much sooner to call racism. It seems to me that sounding racist is usually only when a white person brings up someone else's race.

This is why you have your conundrum. Whites make up 80% of the US while all other races make up the remaining 20. In San Diego it 51.6 white, 28.8 Hispanic, 14.3 Asian still leaving whites the dominant group.

This leads to the original gripe about how slvoid couldn't believe (or was proven wrong in his assumption) that some short guy in street clothes was riding well. It may not have been his intention, but it sounded like he thought it was unbelievable to see this "short mexican" ride so well, kind of implying that they can't in the first place.
