Given his appearance, either very rich and talented, and you're not privy to his European pro cycling achievements. Or just poor and having spent many years on bike from Target, just amazed how fast these 'road bikes' really are.

I'm always amazed, having raced in many countries in many rural settings, how talented and strong some of the locals are on vastly inferior machinery. I mentioned in a post a while ago how tough some guys in India were back in the 80s, riding on 40lbs 'roadster' bikes with fixed gearing and riding shoulder to shoulder with us on some 8-10% mountains. What would the racing world look like if poorer folk from say S.America and Africa had more access to competitive biking technology?

Next time just let him go, waaaay before you spot a climb, and pretend to adjust your brakes
