Wow. Didn't realize that you
just got your new hip! 3 months on and your out on the bike? That's impressive.
My father had his hip done on St Pat's '05, and got an all clear to do just about anything (apart from riding horses and sitting inidan style) this March. I just dropped his 18 year old Puch at the LBS for a service, at his request.

As far as exercises are concerned, the therapist will set you up with those. I did adductor exercises, straight leg raises, hip flexor exercise and things of that nature. Your best bet is to be in the best shape you can prior to surgery to aid in a swifter recovery.
