My father had his hip done on St Pat's '05, and got an all clear to do just about anything (apart from riding horses and sitting inidan style) this March. I just dropped his 18 year old Puch at the LBS for a service, at his request.
I had it done on Jan 12th and waited the 8 weeks like they said so I was back on the bike by March 12. I was in pretty good shape with fairly strong leg muscles when I had it done so that helped. Quite frankly it was pretty amazing considering the type of surgery it was!
