my dad (who is 64) had total hip replacement in Feb. He waited 7 year before finally having it done. The replacement lasts about 20 years. He figures that he won't have to do it again. Part of his rehab was riding a stationary for 10 mins. a day. He doesn't ride a bike , so for him the 10 mins. were a lot. He's now back to doing just about everything he was before and now wants a stationary bike for his home. So I guess you should be able to go back to your normal routine. Try and get a good P.T. I think that's crucial. Also, my dad said the hip pain was gone the day after surgery. HE had the normal pain from surgery but that was it.
