This is pretty easy to do if you have access to a bench grinder (one of my favorite tools)

I agree bench grinders are the best! But nothing cuts an old cottered crank off like an angle grinder (except maybe a plasma torch or light saber).
Couldn't you also use an old xt/xtr FD like an m-900 or somesuch triple?
