ISO v Italian threads

Alright, so I'm getting some conflicting information about this. I've came across this post in another thread regarding a similar issue:

trackasaurus
No. Cogs are not totally interchangeable.

in short:
ISO HUB + IT COG = OK
IT HUB + ISO COG = Not OK

I'm running one of the new Surly cogs on my Dura Ace wheels, which their website says is compatible with "most English, Italian and Japanese hubs." Would threading that thing onto a Record hub trash the threads then? I was reading the review on FGG on the Miche cog carrier system and the little adendum at the end. I guess what I'm asking is whether the Miche is a better alternative than the Surly for my Record wheels.
