I had dental surgery once and they gave me 292s. If anything they knock you out. It depends how MUCH codeine. If you're looking for major pain relief, darvocet or empricet are what they give you in hospitals. After abdominal surgery they sent me home with empricet (of course, in the hospital right after surgery they hook you up with morphine).
