Tighten down the crank bolt as tight as possible. If your crank is loose, the rings will be be further out than if it was tightened down and mess with your adjustments.
Correction: Ensure the crank bolt is tightened to the proper torque value. It's really easy to overtighten the crank bolt on a square taper crank and push the crank arm too far onto the spindle.
