Bikes: Surly Long Haul Trucker set up for commuting and loaded touring, old Sekine road frame converted to fixed-gear, various beaters and weird bikes, waiting on the frame for my Surly Big Dummy build

I bought some of those Park patches as a combo deal with some Park tire levers one time. The levers work great and I still have them, but I can't recommend the stick-on patches. The one time I tried using one, it came loose within 15 minutes of reassembling the wheel. The problem with any "glueless" patch is that the adhesive remains soft forever, eventually allowing air to work it's way out under the patch and make a leak. I suppose if you have an ideal puncture where the patch will be pressed tightly against the tire casing it might hold better, but that air is going to try to find a path out underneath the patch, and it's usually just a matter of time before it succeeds. When done correctly, vulcanized patches form a chemical bond that will never leak or come loose with time. I'll happily invest the extra two minutes it takes to do a proper patch.
