I wondered if someone would comment on the "crime free" part. There was a DJ on K101, which for years was the major rock station in Houston, who always mentioned that he was broadcasting from the "crime free Montrose." Of course, back then, in the 80's, it was wilder than now, though the intersection of Westheimer/Montrose is still a hub for street kids and other homeless folks, and, yes, a certain level of crime. The Taco Cabana on that coner is sometimes called "Taco Cannabis" by a friend of mine, which caused me to laugh for quite a while when I first heard him say it.
