Aha, I found the key to a good commute. Throw away the damned bike computer.
I didn't hook mine up on the ride home, and I had one of the best rides this month. Not that I rode slowly; I hammered all the way home, but I didn't get hung up about my speed. It was probably the fastest ride home in a while, though, and I felt great!
The only sour point was the damned car who didn't look when coming off a side street and missed my wheel by inches. This despite the fact that I yelled (loudly) when I saw him coming down the side street. I hit the brakes, turned around and started yelling and waving to get him/her to stop, but he/she just drove on, oblivious. Looking at the map, I see that that road leads to a day camp. I'm going to email/call them and make a complaint. Too bad I didn't have time to get a license plate.
