Carradice of Nelson, England makes the definitive saddlebags for bicycles. I put one of their Camper Longflaps on my Raleigh Twenty and carry anything that I can think of with room to spare. (I store my helmet in their too!) They make several sizes of bags, and you can't beat them for their whole sense of panache.
