I can't speak to the shoe, but I use "Crank Brothers Quattro SL Road Pedals" on my primary road bike and I am quite pleased with them. Although to be fair I am equally pleased with the the "Crank Brothers Candy C MTB Pedals" that I use on my commuter, and at the time I purchased the Candy Pedals they were significantly less expensive at the time...

The Quattros were my first Clipless pedals and I didn't have much of a problem getting used to them, actually using them was quite a relief, since I never became comfortable using my old clips.

I chose to go with the Candy Pedals on my commuter because they were significantly cheaper, while allowing me to use my Quattro Pedal cleats.
