Their are things that can be done.

A good wrench should be able to make some adjustments to your drive train that will get you what you want but it may involve some or all of the following. Checking to see that the correct spacers were used to install your new ring. Installing a different (thinner chain). Cage adjustments and height and angle adjustments to your front derailleur is also a possibility for a fix. As a last resort filing down the edge on the chain lifting tab.
