I really like my Carradice bar bag. The quick release mounting is really firm and you can easily take your valuable when you leave the bike. Shoulder strap makes carrying the bag easy. The bag acts as a map holder which speeds up navigation.
If you use STI levers, avoid wide bags.
Large bags encourage heavy loads which may not be suitable for your steering. I find that a few lbs of weight on the front does no harm.
