Personally, I find that the closer the motor vehicles get, the more draft I can pick up off 'em
If you're not comfortable operating with motor vehicles close to you, I can understand that, and I recommend picking up a helmet-mount mirror so you can at least see what's coming, how fast, how wide, and whether they're moving out or not.
