I didn't make it to any of the shops you listed. It was a work trip and I just ran out of time.

I did make it to REI and rode a Novara Transfer, which was great, but the only size they had was too small, and they lack a chain guard.

I went to a shop called "Pro Cycle Center" in Livonia since it was just down the street from where I stayed. It was a Trek/Giant store. The great part about it was that they tons of parts. Unlike anything I have access to here.

I've got this thread bookmarked, as I'm sure I'l be back this summer.

Off topic: Trader Joes is great, I wish we had them here!
