New SRAM stuff!
A guy from SRAM came by the shop this afternoon, he's been utterly gracious enough to allow us to take his fully SRAM Force-equipped Gerolsteiner Tarmac out tomorrow to try the new gruppo out. In the stand, I'm impressed. The action feels very positive, there's enough of a difference between upshifting and downshifting that it seems like accidentally shifting the wrong way won't be much of an issue. Front shifting seemed to have a bit of a learning curve, but it felt like I was getting the hang of it after just a few practice shifts in the stand. The look and feel of the levers is a very nice blend of Shimano and Campy ergonomics...there's no big obnoxious growth on the end of the hoods like Shimano's 10spd stuff, but there's enough there to hitch yourself forward for climbing, which I was stoked about. Fans of SRAM's 1:1 pull ratio on their MTB stuff should be stoked, Force feels VERY similar to X-0 in that regard. Nice hearty, robust feel to each shift, nothing light or ghost-y.
