Here in Maine we have an organization that sponsors Commute Another Way Day, which of course competes for attention with Bike to Work Day, but that's another story. Anyway, one year, a couple of guys showed up at the mill paddling down the river in canoes. Of course, they had just put them in a mile upstream, so they weren't really commuting, but I refrained from pointing that out, since it did make for a nice photo-op!
