I've actually grown to like them myself. It looks like SRAM has found a comfortable compromise...the forward part of the hoods is still useable to a great extent but not as large. AND, like Campy, *both* brake and shift cables run under the bar tape.
I'll see if I can get a chance to snap a few pics, we only get to play with it for a few hours...it's on our SRAM guy's personal bike, or something, so he wants it back.
