We start at 6:30a on Saturdays when there are no races going on. This works great for all of us because we usually get back between 9 and 10 and then I can be at work for 11 (No nice Mon-Fri 8-5 schedule for me ). I understand the point though, I don't know of any group rides on weekends that start after 8:30. The rides that I know of are all out of the various LBS around here so these let people get their rides in before the Saturday nice weather rush comes in.
