Paul H - I commute 25-50kms each way (depending if I take the train or not part way) from downtown to a rural office location outside the city.

People at my office first thought it was crazy, but once they saw I was on my third year or commuting and having no problems they started to see it could be done.

Having said that - you'll only get a small % of people doing long commutes by bike, but better 5% than zero %.
