What I’ve found is if I don’t do this little ride, no matter how I warm up I don’t race as well. I feel my legs are heavier, my breathing too rapid, no jump in my muscles.

Without the neighborhood ride I feel like I’m “behind the gear” and with it I’m “on top of the gear” , if you know what I mean.

No matter what I do with my warm up before a race, if I haven’t had a ride earlier in the day I don’t do as well.

Does anyone have a similar experience? Or an explanation for that matter?

song of the day:
Don't Sleep In The Subway, Petula Clark

Your account reminded me of the movie "A Sunday in Hell" . I watched each team ride their bikes from the Hotel to the starting line to effectively warm up. The hotels seemed to be some distance from the race.
