You might be able to do it but your finished bike is not really a $500 build unless all the parts like the $400 wheels fell out of the sky or you got them for free. Was there a headset with the frame? I am trying to do the same thing with a NOS Schwinn frame and fork that I got for $90. From scratch it will be close to impossible at a 105 level components.
