I think that's exactly what it is. I had some old answer MTB shoes from the 90's that were awesome-(and ugly as sin-bright blue with orange). They were made in italy, and lasted for years. Now all of the shoes seem to be so cheap-cleats ripping out, heels come unglued etc-and the fit is terrible.
