I am in awe of several riders here, and I've said so often. There's only so many ways to say OMG to their ride reports. I am highly unlikely to ride across the country, and I put Will on a pedalstal (heh heh) that he richly deserves. And I do read the accounts of his rides and jppe's rides and stapfam's rides and enjoy them. But again, how many ways are there to say OMG! I idolize these guys, and I know myself well enough to know I'll never be quite like these guys, and I don't have much to offer them in terms of advice, experience, or suggestions. All I can do is let 'em know how cool it is that they can do what they can do!

Perhaps people respond to the posts on divorce because (most likely) half the readers of this forum have been, or are divorced.

Anyway, what am I missing here? People read what interests them and post things they feel are important enough to say. And some people enjoy posting things just for fun and humor, and others probably pay little attention to those threads, and that's how it goes.

I'm probably just too dense to get it. What's the problem again? (That darn CRS!!!)
Well, that is a good question!

I guess I am having trouble keeping up with the times. My problem, not the forums.

Just some thoughts:

Every rider needs to be cherished. Not just the exalted few. You, the newbies, etc. We all do what we can do within the confines of our environment, physical situation, time, injuries, age, etc. I have sensed that the forum is moving more and more to honor just a few, perhaps at the expense of others. Accomplishments are relative to the person's situation. I don't mean to demean any accomplishments. But someone's first 10 mile ride may(should) be just as significant as other rides.

Certainly the forum has turned lately to "how clever/cute can we write" things, (and a lot of them are not about bicycling) perhaps leaving some who are less clever not contributing as much.

Anyway, as you stated so clearly, people read what interests them and post what they want, so I am obviously the odd man out.

I will get off of my soapbox now. I have had my say, and some folks even listened, even though it wasn't about my love life!

Fini!
