Commute home last night was another fast, short caning on the Merida roadie for the first time in a week. Almost no wind, and the lights cast by the Tasman Bridge on the flat-calm Derwent River were wonderful. The trip was made even better by the gridlock on to the bridge caused by a rear-end vehicle accident at the western entrance. Rode on the cycleway past the stationary cars nextdoor, up over the bridge and watched the flashing lights still at the scene from the other side of the river with a bit of a smile and chuckle.
This morning was a great one at the start -- very brisk, frost on the grass, but alas I had a front-wheel puncture that manifested itself right at the top of the bridge. I rode the remaining 2.5km into work on the flat tyre (carefully). I had a bike training course to deliver to Council employees and had to set up. The wind picked up during the morning, so our practical ride for the course was chilly despite the sunshine.
