I have an OCR2 with 5000+ miles on it. I've never had this kind of issue. I would assume the chain rub or derail can be fixed by adjusting the front DR. I've never derailed off the big ring on that bike and only off the small ring two or three times in three years.
As to the chain ring moving around, yeah, there is something way off there and I would have that checked before going too long.

The messed up thing about the front derailleur adjustment is that I made sure to align the FD such that there was no rub in the gear I knew I'd be using for the majority of my ride. Lo and behold, when I started my return, the chain was rubbing on uphills. What's worse is that it was rubbing the FD guide that faces out. *sigh* It's never straight foreword to deal with my LBS. Sadly, they're the only game in town.
