May I ask about what appears to be a light on the rear/left dropout?
I'd love to know (1) how you've attached it, (2) what light it is and maybe
even (if I may) see a closeup photo of that side of the rear wheel.

Hi Ed, I'd be happy to oblige Here are a couple of shots of that. They're big, so I'm just going to provide links so I don't bog the thread down too badly:

That's the old first-generation NiteRider "Defender" blinkie, bolted to the swivel "ear" from a steel reflector mount, which is then bolted to my frame's rack eyelet. Its "host" light system wore out, so I wired it to a 9.6V radio-controlled-car battery pack for the heck of it. Wired like that, it doesn't flash, but it still runs bright enough to be daytime-visible.

I have a small LED police strobe arriving tomorrow, so if you're interested in rear lighting, keep an eye on the Commuting forum for photos/video of how that stacks up against a NiteRider blinkie and a Cateye LD-1000 for brightness and beam pattern. It has three 1W super-LEDs with what they call a wide-angle lighting pattern.
