We don't know exactly what it entailed -- the numerous fittings, the back and forth between rider and framebuilder, specifying precisely what components, titanium prices have gone up (which I assume is what the Seven is since they build with that), carbon (since Seven builds carbon and ti frames), etc.
Also, you have to consider the deaths involved. The creation of a good custom bike should involve at least some loss of life (if for no other reason than to obtain the blood of virgins necessary to lubricate the chain), and that drives prices up.
