However, let me ask something. You basically need to get the pair $40, and the kit $80, right?

That's about the price of a set of 105 brifters on Ebay. Although, I suppose, if you have 7 speed, then it would be good, because you wouldn't need to replace the whole drivetrain to get a set of brifters.

There is one other alternative most peope don't look into, because it just seems odd. But, you can get 7,8 or 9 speed MTB grip shifters for the rear der, and double or triple grip shifters for the front der, and they are much less expensive, and fairly light weight. You can install them on the tops. It's a little further away than the Kelly's, but I have seen them used with success on older 7s bikes.
