If his bikes fit me or my spouse, I'd buy them from him

It isn't really going to affect me, still its depressing having a riding partner just up and quit like that.

Same here... my one friend just called it quits becasue it "took tooo much time" he would rather run for 30 minutes... then bike for 2-3 hours.

Ohh well... in your case one man's lose in your gain (if he gives you a deal on his bikes).
