My motivation is basicly just responsibility. If I don't work I'll lose everything I own. Therefore I don't have much of a choice.
On a side note I wish minimum wage would have been that much when I was younger and had those crappy jobs. I was happy to make $4.25 an hour back then. I worked for $3.xx for a while when I was younger, that really sucked.
