On this morning's 15mi/25km recreational ride, I was able to trigger three traffic signals. (For those familiar with north coastal San Diego County, they were southbound Vulcan Av. to e/b Encinitas Bl., e/b Encinitas Bl. to n/b Village Park Way, and n/b Rancho Santa Fe Rd. to w/b La Costa Av.) When I email the traffic engineers about nonresponsive signals in Encinitas and Carlsbad, I do get cordial responses and, about half the time, correction of the problem.

The moral of this story is to be a tactfully squeaky wheel.
