A woman died Saturday from the injuries she suffered when a pickup struck her bicycle while she was riding in east Wichita.

The woman's name and age were not released.

She and another woman were riding east in the curb lane of Douglas between Armour and Rock Road at about 6:30 a.m. when the eastbound pickup struck them from behind, according to Wichita police.

The women were hospitalized in critical condition. One of the women died around 1:40 p.m., according to Wesley Medical Center. The other woman remained in critical condition.

The pickup's speed was not known, and police were investigating what caused the accident. The driver did not suffer serious injuries, according to police.
