#2 the first one cracked - so I got on...used my torque wrench and went out on a ride. by 2 miles it I was riding a BMX bike, the seat post had slipped 3.5". I was then stopping ever 2 miles to readjust and now couldn't torque as I was on the road. The post cracked and I wasn't wrenching down on it when I was tightening it.
#3 the second post wont stay up either. I talked to the Specialized rep and he suggested roughing the shaft in the clamp area, using hair spray and the LBS has tried 3 different post clamps. This newest one seems to be working better but I don't have a lot of miles on it yet due to the weather...I do have enough to say that it is now dropping ~2" in 18 miles...so not as fast but still shouldn't be dropping (this was just prior to this latest clamp
#4 while the saddle angle adjustment is really cool and you can get any angle you want...it can also slip. This ruined my ride yesterday and may be the last straw. I tightened the bejesus out of it so I am going to see if it stays.

My LBS and Specialized have been great. They haven't charged me for the 4 times they have tried to install it or for the 3 aftermarket post clamps they have tried and Specialized covered the cracked post and says they will make it right. When I put calipers on the post with the clamp at speced torque it is clear to me that the post is too thin and is crushing which is why it slips. This has been WAY too much hastle and if it slips again I am getting something else...my LBS wants me to go with a Masterpiece but I am thinking USE (they don't like them though so are trying to talk me out of it).

The USE seems really nice. THe Thompson has a good following though... I think eithe would serve you well. I'd personally go toward the USE. It's really a shame the Pave SL has given you such fits.... it seems like a really cool design and the weight isn't too bad either.
