@Jacobi - I've read similar things. But old habit's die hard! If it's a heavy section of glass, I will even pull over and carefully do the same but carefully checking the tires for any imbedded items.

Regularly (once every week or two) prior to filling up my tires before a ride at home. I also slowly check for any nicks and cuts in the tread and in those for any small bits of glass or gravel and remove with a knife point.
