It's called rebadging, and it's very common in the cycling industry. The big disadvantage for you is that with the Fuji you'd should be getting some free tuneups, whereas if you get the Performance bike, you'll have to assemble it and learn how to do all the tuneups (or pay someone to do it). Also, you can't go and test ride the Performance bike (unless there's a Performance where you live). Between the two, I'd go for the Fuji. It'll be a great first bike for you, it's not going to break the bank, and it's a nice frame with some very decent components.
