What I suggest is that whenever you mount a new tire, pump it to 20-30psi and then work all the way around the sidewall with your thumbs pushing the beads away from the rim hooks. This works the beads into better contact with the rim flanges, straightens the tire, and lets the tube squiggle its way out of the way of the bead and rim (if trapped). I found my UrbanMaxs were not the world's straightest tire and it might need to be worked into good alignment. After this you pump to full pressure. If you really need street shoe compatibility, look into platforms and powergrips. ymmv, good luck
This is more or less what I did with the second one, which actually blew faster.
So far I like the campus pedals. It's a little awkward having to flip them over, but other than that they are great, and it lets me play with clipless when I take the bike out for longer rides.
