Hello Looty, first I want to say how sorry I am to hear this. But dont let this get your spirits down, it sounds like you are an amazing person. Maybe we should go out for a drink sometime.
Ok..the internet is a very powerful tool, it can be used for many things including the dating game. While I dont believe it was propper for AL to just pick up and go, I also dont believe he was completely in the wrong. Sometimes relationships just dont work out no matter how long or great you think it is. Many times emotions can be very over-whelming on the inner-web. And people can just jump into relationships, sometimes they last, sometimes they dont. But if I was you I def would not wait around, hopefully you and Al can still be friends and can keep a nice friendly relationship up for the kids.

The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night, it is never good to lie to kids about what is goin on. Always be honest and help them understand what is going on.
As for sneakers go with the Vintage.
