OK, got it. Or, I can cross 28 on Westfields Blvd and take Braddock over to Bull Run PO Rd down to Compton which goes to Clifton Rd. and eventually out to 123. How is Clifton Rd. ?

Mathis Avenue gets you to the middle of Manassas.
If you go back to the FCPW, you can use Rugby Road, Middle Ridge, Melville and Stringfellow to get past 66. Then Union Mill or Clifton Road to get to Braddock. From there it's easy.
Lately I've been taking the FCPW to Fair Lakes Parkway and cutting east to Ox Road or Monument to cross 66.
Here's a partial from a Vienna to Aden cue sheet that I use. Gets you to some nice roads on the other side of Manassas. Starts from Compton Road and route 28.

2.7 R into shopping center parking lot about one short block west of VA 28;
ride across fronts of stores.
