I live near the lightning capital of the world (Tampa, FL)

I wonder what would make anyone think that doing anything except staying indoors would be a "good" idea????

Cool picture by the way. I've seen lightning do some wild (yet cool) things.

I've seen an asphalt road take a hit and crumble the asphalt.

I saw a man get struck while at the beach standing in front of a Bar-b-que while holding an umbrella. Luckily, his wife was a nurse and saved his life. Had 3rd degree burns in his quad where his keys once were.

I saw a car get struck by lightning. Was driving one day and this guy was pulled over on the side of the road and his hood was smoldering. He claimed he was just riding along (JRA) and the next thing he knew his engine stopped and he coasted off to the side of the road. Apparently he was driving over the spot were lightning was striking and it seized his engine. I didn't "actually" see it happen, but I did see the car.
